Der Fall und dessen Bearbeitung sind gut aufgebaut. Die privaten Szenen lenken nicht zu sehr von den Ermittlungen ab. Die Erläuterungen zu Dr. Brennan als Person sind aber dennoch störend, da dies ja ein Teil einer Reihe ist und die Erläuterungen durch die vorhergegangenen Bücher unnötig sind.
Auch die Konversationen mit dem Leser sind meiner Meinung nach unnötig. Die Selbstbeleidigungen sind auch unangenehm zu lesen.

This book almost got 2 stars. If I hadn't read the earlier books and didn't already like the series I probably would've put this book down and never finished it. That being said it took almost 150 pages for the book to finally become interesting. Too many names floating around and after all the times I put the book down and picked it up I had forgotten who most of them were and took a little while to put the pieces back together. The interesting portion of the book definitely made up for the boring parts but this could've been a lot better overall.
I'm always aware that Reich is working with a formula, but it was really obvious with this one. Still it got me through a miserable day with a cold.

Don't get me wrong I liked it, but I didn't love it.
A lot of the time I was reading (or in my case listening to) the words without really taking it in. I could blame that on the fact that it was an audiobook but I have listened to others before and can say I enjoyed and felt encapsulated by them.
As a result, I think I finished this book so quickly and didn't consider placing this book down and never picking it up again because I had something better to read, purely because it was an audiobook. When my boyfriend turned out the light to sleep I just put this on and I really do think that encouraged me to listen to it more.
I've always been interested in Reichs character Temperance but found the plot with Ryan annoyed me in this book. I guess I like a girl who doesn't take in a man (whether that be letting him sleep on her sofa or more) who is stupid enough to dump her to start a fake relationship with his ex. Urgh.
Otherwise, the plot was alright, perhaps maybe a little long winded but these are a type of book I like and I'll forgive Reichs for this; well as long as she improves in the furture.

I decided to read the Temperance Brennan books after watching the television show Bones. The two are similar but also very different, I enjoy both. Kathy Reichs has a very detailed but still interesting writing style. I do not understand all of the technical jargon but that does not detract from my reading enjoyment. Tempe and Ryan are great characters and my favorite parts of the books are when they are in a scene together especially if it is out in "the field".
