"It's something very old. Some antiques are special because they are different from what we use today, and some are special because they belonged to someone important."

There's something about Bert's explanation of antiques and heirlooms that hits me just right. He's talking about a bunch of old paper clips strung together into a chain, which might seem "worthless" to an outsider, but his connection to his Uncle Bart and the memories those paper clips evoke because of that connection are what determine their value as a piece of history. And I just think that's really neat for kids to hear.
