Tahir effortlessly continued to weave beautiful and surprising stories within the world of An Ember in the Ashes. As one of my favorite series, I was excited to see what direction this book went with the characters from the previous series and how the new characters tied in. I was not disappointed!

This fantasy world seamlessly incorporated political intrigue, a unique magic system, military strategies, romance, friendship, family, quests, and battles into a rich and enthralling world. I quickly fell in love with the new characters and cannot wait to see how their stories will continue in future books. It was also interesting to see some familiar faces from the previous series framed in a different light. As always, Tahir’s command of langue creates a vivid mental image of the world while conveying the thoughts and actions of the characters in a poignant manner. There were definitely some unexpected twists that kept me craving the completion of the story. Now that I have finished the book, I am just sad I cannot jump straight into the next installment. 10/10 enjoyed this book, so well done!!
