A lovely Cinderella story.

Maddie was knocked down by Remi’s brother, Jules’ car. Jules made a deal with Maddie to pay her $75k to pretend to be his girlfriend for six weeks.

As a member of the Montegovian royal family, Jules behavior was noticed by Remi, the Crown Prince of Montegovia. Tasked with resolving this unpleasant situation, Remi travelled to London to put an end to the unpleasantness and found himself entranced by Maddie.

This led to an agreement between the non- trusting Remi and Maddie. She would act like his fiancée for a short time and he would pay her three quarters of a million dollars.

Erm, where are guys like this in real life?

Soon, Maddie finds herself in Remi’s arms and doesn’t want to leave them. The chemistry between them is hot and she is enamored with him. Buuut, he’s cold and distant and still in love with his deceased fiancée. He uses the dead fiancée as a barrier to keep himself from forming any emotional attachments to Maddie. Until he no longer can.

I really liked the book, even though I wanted to shake Remi. I understand that he lost the woman he was supposed to marry and loved since childhood, but to use her memory as a barrier between him and every once else was a bit selfish. Let her Rest In Peace. Live your life. Accept that you can still love and cherish her without making yourself an iceberg.

I look forward to the rest of the books in this series. Should be fun.
