Loved it. Gaiman's portrayal of Death is truly unlike any other, friendly, kind, and funny. It's not hard to see why she's kinda becoming more popular than Morpheus himself. Personally, while Sandman has better story, I like Death more tham Dream. Too bad there isn't more of the story.

Only Neil Gaiman could write a book like this. It alternates somberly serious themes with the image of death as a young goth girl who takes everything in stride, good or bad. And that's the point, the theme is that to appreciate the good things in life, you have to accept that there are also moments that are not so pleasant. His book leaves you profoundly pondering the nature of life and death.

It's a good story. It's just not as great as the main body of The Sandman series. It probably gets more love because the character is so fantastic than it does for the actual plot. At least, that's certainly true for me.

Yes, I read this in a day. It's a quick read! And overall I liked it. I can't really offer a helpful review of the novel itself, for whatever reason. I can say that I continue to really like Gaiman's work, and this novel only adds to it. I've only read the first The Sandman novel, and though I wish I'd gotten my hands on the other ones as well, I didn't feel too off reading this book without reading the other Sandman novels.

I see why people are sort of eh about this novel, but it's an enjoyable story involving plenty of mythology and quasi-reality. I like Death's personality and her interactions with Sexton. Well worth the read, overall. If you like Sandman and you like Gaiman, I think you'll at least like this.

It was ok. I guess it was meant to be this cool , quirky book. A girl named "death" , who dresses in black and is blasé about the recent death of her entire family. The female lead who thinks she's death, roams around the city looking for a crazy woman's heart. The male lead is set on committing suicide, until he meets death and follows her around for the day. The end of the book has a P.S.A. about HIV and Aids which I didn't see coming. I know the character is supposed to be from another series of books , so maybe people that have read those one's would have enjoyed this more.

I haven't read this in more years than I care to admit, but I love it from afar. It feeds my inner goth. I will never read it again for fear of it not living up to my memory of it.
