The character growth in the book is amazing. I loved that Ophelia and Malakai were looking internally for what was best of them. Then acted on what was best of them and was not pressured to quickly brush those feelings under the rug.
Also THE NEW POV!!!!! OMG. It was giving me life!
The tension and slow burn in this book is next level. The swoony-ness melted my heart multiple times.
I am so excited for future with these characters. If you haven't checked out The Curse of Ophelia, do it!

I love that there isn't a huge time jump between these books, and we go almost straight back to where the previous one ended. The prologue in this installment was really interesting, and we do have multiple POVs throughout again too.
My heart absolute breaks for Tolek every time there's mention of his childhood and upbringing. He is quite literally the sweetest man to ever exist, he didn't deserve to be treated the way his family treated him growing up. But his relationship with Ophelia is EVERYTHING. I love them together, they're literally the perfect pair. I was worried him being in a coma was going to be dragged out for most of the book, so I'm glad we only had to wait a few chapters for him to wake up and reunite with Ophelia. I understand why Ophelia wants to take things slow with him, and the slow burn is sizzling, but I'm not a very patient person. BRING ME THE SMUT 🫡🤭. The spicy scenes were providing though, so it was definitely worth the wait.
Malakai just really annoys me for some reason. He's very much the Chaol Westfall of this series for me (I despise Chaol btw), but his relationships with Mila and Barrett make him slightly more tolerable. I enjoyed seeing Mila help him deal with his PTSD from his torture, it's nice for him to have somebody to confide in fully. He always seemed to have a chapter straight after Ophelia & Tolek had a moment together, and I was just not interested lol. Hoping his character becomes a bit more interesting for me in the next installments.
I'm also enjoying seeing all of the other romantic storylines and relationships developing between other characters. There was another big battle at the end of this one, the action scenes so far in this series have all been phenomenal. And of course another big cliffhanger to end the book. With the "villain" now dead, I have a feeling the fight will be against the angels from now on. Can't wait to see if I'm right.
Overall this was another perfect installment to the series. The pacing in these books is always great, and I'm not finding myself getting bored or uninterested in what's going on. I've been hooked from the very start up until now, and hopefully the next couple of books continue on the same trajectory

Don’t get why she took so long to have sex with Tolek. I was impatient about that as it’s very slow burn especially compared with the first books and the fact they confessed their undying love for each other repeatedly. Series has lots of quests. It’s an epic. Declarations of love were often over the top and corny. I don’t know how to describe her writing. Almost poetic or frilly but in a way that I didn’t really like. I felt like I was skimming that superfluous phrasing. Lots of side characters. Appreciated that Malek struggled for a long time. Fantasy characters often get tortured/traumatized and then bounce back quickly in an unrealistic way. Tolek and Ophelia also go through it, too. It felt confusing that Malek wasn’t jealous of Tolek and Ophelia. I don’t mind some toxic jealousy in a fantasy book lol. I don’t know why or what combination of things it was, but it was hard for me to finish this book. About 70% of the way through I read a different book before coming back to finish it. Pacing felt slow.

What a ride! I had the opportunity to receive an ARC of Trials of Ophelia, the third book in The Curse Of Ophelia series by Nicole Platania, and I’ll never shut up about the amazing work Nicole delivers to us every single time.
I cannot express enough how beautiful I find this world,so unique and peculiar I eat up every single thing as well as all the characters that make up this series.
Nicole has a way with words that truly captivates you, whimsical and deeply moving, with a sprinkle of humor that makes you laugh and smile so hard, which is reflected in the characters and their story.
The world building is so well thought and portrayed, and I was so happy to see so much more of it in this instalment - which I always appreciate in a fantasy series! There is found family, mystery and romance and the result is absolutely breathtaking!
In this book we have to see our beloved circle going through so much, dealing with angels, long forgotten prophecies and vicious enemies. The action and suspense kept me going as much as the tenderness and love bursting through the words.
