A great conclusion (I know there’s more books) to the battle and Kakias. I can’t wait for the rest of the story to unfold - especially regarding the angels plans because I’m very confused what they want and who this ‘master’ is. Malakai oh malakai, I’m so glad he found himself in this book, he provided such raw emotions to add to the story and I loved reading his chapters. Tolek once again is just the best book boyfriend and perfect in so many ways. At times I was getting frustrated with the writing, I’m not sure if it’s the style but it feels repetitive in the way the characters talk to each other and often times cringy (especially when it’s their inner dialogue talking about the person they love) so this is the only reason it’s not 5 ⭐️

this book would have been so much better without the malakai pov chapters in my opinion, it was really hard to get through. love tolek <3

I devoured this book! It has been over 24 hours now since I finished and I wish I had the next book in my hands already because I need to know what happens!

Trials didn’t completely rip my heart out & smash it to tiny pieces like Curse & Shards did but man did I still feel all the feels. I feel like Nicole does an AMAZING job at truly digging down into characters feelings & flaws. The vulnerability & emotional growth in this book is so beautifully done. Each character has some kind of emotional trauma that they confront in this book & Nicole presents it in such a raw, authentic way.

Plus, that Sapphire scene?? *chef’s kiss*
My new goal in life is to be a badass Mystique warrior & ride a Pegasus.

Where do I start.
What an emotional Rollercoaster.
Ok, so there are no enemies to lovers but perfectly natural friends to lovers showing Ophelia exactly how it feels to be truly loved.
I love the way the friends are portrayed, pushing when they know they can and holding back when necessary.
It is hard to describe exactly how good these books are. The emotional damage and healing process depicted for multiple characters is so well written that you can feel the pain as they heal. No one character is immune to the broken feeling and you cannot help but go alone for the ride.
I honestly cannot wait to see what happens next!
I received an advanced reader copy and these thoughts and feelings are my own.

Okay this is officially my new favorite of the series so far!! I don’t want to spoil anything for those who may read this and haven’t read the others yet.. so I’ll just drop general thoughts here (and maybe avoid the quotes!).

This found family is quite possibly my favorite ever. I’m so attached to every single one of these characters 🥹🥹 I just want them all to be happy but SHEESHHH does Nicole put them through it 😅 the freaking healing journey some of them go through in this book was so incredibly well done though!! Some of the best character development I’ve ever read! And the cave scene my lawddd 🥵🥵🌶️ and Sapphire is my girlll, I will protect her to my last breathe 😤

If you’re looking for a new romantasy series with meddling angels, unique magic, and incredible world building and character development, look no further!! Go pick this series up folks!!

After coming off the cliffhanger in Shards, I was so ready to start Trials. It did not disappoint. Even though we still have a very nebulous outside force driving we still have strong character driven development as well. It was really nice seeing the treatment of trauma in multiple characters. It wasn't pushed aside and they didn't just "get over it" when they needed to, but there was work and growth and better people that came out of it.

We still got to see a few POVs as we did in Shards which was nice, especially with multiple relationships that we got to see develop. There were also a few things that stuck out that I really liked

1. Sapphire (enough said here if you've read previous books in the series)
2. The friendship between Tol, Malakai and Cyph
3. The quest aspects of this book
4. Reconnecting with siblings

I'm looking forward to book 4 (and also book 3.5!)

Since this is book three in the series I am going to keep it brief to avoid any spoilers!

This series is for people who like friends to lovers, multiple magic systems, found family, politics, war, he falls first, divine powers, mental health rep, and highstakes quests.

I am very impressed with how this series is progressing and love the immense character growth that takes place in this book. The character development is really phenomenal, not just with the main characters (3 POV), but with the supporting characters as well.

I've also noticed that the scene building is getting better and the writing becoming more refined, not that it was bad to begin with, but it flows more smoothly.

Some fun new mythical creatures have been introduced so I'm super happy about that! Mythical creatures and animals are always my favorite 😍

The story is moving in an interesting direction and I'm excited to see where the next book goes!
