Okay this is officially my new favorite of the series so far!! I don’t want to spoil anything for those who may read this and haven’t read the others yet.. so I’ll just drop general thoughts here (and maybe avoid the quotes!).
This found family is quite possibly my favorite ever. I’m so attached to every single one of these characters 🥹🥹 I just want them all to be happy but SHEESHHH does Nicole put them through it 😅 the freaking healing journey some of them go through in this book was so incredibly well done though!! Some of the best character development I’ve ever read! And the cave scene my lawddd 🥵🥵🌶️ and Sapphire is my girlll, I will protect her to my last breathe 😤
If you’re looking for a new romantasy series with meddling angels, unique magic, and incredible world building and character development, look no further!! Go pick this series up folks!!

After coming off the cliffhanger in Shards, I was so ready to start Trials. It did not disappoint. Even though we still have a very nebulous outside force driving we still have strong character driven development as well. It was really nice seeing the treatment of trauma in multiple characters. It wasn't pushed aside and they didn't just "get over it" when they needed to, but there was work and growth and better people that came out of it.
We still got to see a few POVs as we did in Shards which was nice, especially with multiple relationships that we got to see develop. There were also a few things that stuck out that I really liked
1. Sapphire (enough said here if you've read previous books in the series)
2. The friendship between Tol, Malakai and Cyph
3. The quest aspects of this book
4. Reconnecting with siblings
I'm looking forward to book 4 (and also book 3.5!)

Since this is book three in the series I am going to keep it brief to avoid any spoilers!
This series is for people who like friends to lovers, multiple magic systems, found family, politics, war, he falls first, divine powers, mental health rep, and highstakes quests.
I am very impressed with how this series is progressing and love the immense character growth that takes place in this book. The character development is really phenomenal, not just with the main characters (3 POV), but with the supporting characters as well.
I've also noticed that the scene building is getting better and the writing becoming more refined, not that it was bad to begin with, but it flows more smoothly.
Some fun new mythical creatures have been introduced so I'm super happy about that! Mythical creatures and animals are always my favorite 😍
The story is moving in an interesting direction and I'm excited to see where the next book goes!
"There she is."
Ophelia and Tolek—ugh! They're so addicting! Love them together.
Mila and Malakai—I love them together too! Trauma bonding? Yup. I love how they helped each other.
I totally understood why Ophelia and Malakai weren't in it together anymore. I'm so happy for them realizing that. I'm glad they're still friends after all that happened.
Shoutout to the author, Nicole, for giving us all that healthy communication.
I’m still confused after 2.3 books. I LOVE Tolek, but I don’t really care about Ophelia or what happens next…
I am sure this series has altered my brain chemistry. I AM IN LOVE.
5/5 ⭐
You know the feeling of excitement and thrill you get when you are reading a book that you absolutely adore and your heart is beating rapidly against your chest?! Yes, well this book gave me that feeling.
Again, I'll say it: If you haven't read the first book of this series RUN, DO NO WALK, RUN!!
This book was absolutely amazing, I couldn't put it down, and I already feel so close to the characters, I don't want this series to end

This book was incredible! This is by far my favorite book of the series so far. Tons of payoff in this book in so many different aspects! Intense romance and even more intense battles. The character growth in this book surpasses what I expected. I cannot wait for the following novella and then the next book in the series.
5 stars
Here's the thing, with a lot of fantasy series, I feel like there is almost always a book that is mediocre, the filler book. That is NOT the case with this series. Every book thus far has been action, information, and banter packed. I love these characters so much and I am happy to say that it exceeded my expectations!
This found family just keeps getting better and better. Thank you, Nicole, for blessing me with an ARC of Trials. My head is spinning from the theories. Ophelia and her crew just keep getting better and better. I'm loving where this story is headed!
