What is this series doing to me?!

The choke hold this series has on me is unhealthy. The characters, the world building. Its all written so beautifully while continuing to keep me on the edge of my seat. So so good!

Sigh…I wanted to love this book as much as I did the first but this didn’t give what I thought it was going to
give. This is definitely a me thing because I went into this expecting this book to quicken the pace and for more action to happen & questions answered. However, this book is just as slow-paced as the first, detail heavy, and though some things are revealed, there are still more questions than answers. I found it challenging to get through this book since I did find it a bit boring but I understand that we’re following Orlaith’s journey as she experiences life beyond the castle. Inevitably experiencing more tragedy, trauma, deceit, ugly truths, and poor decisions, as she learns how to navigate the crumbling world around her and face who she really is. We’re supposed to be frustrated with Orlaith’s choices while also understanding why she keeps making them…I mean what do we expect from a girl who was sheltered for 19 years and then suddenly thrown into an unknown world

I cared nothing for the FMC and MMC. There was zero chemistry? There was zero relationship there yet they were obsessed with each other?
I loved Kai’s POV and wished there was more of him.
Couldn’t be bothered with Blaise he was boring.

The story had too many plots going on with the FMC and MMC it was hard to keep track.
