I had to think about this one and digest it for awhile before being able to come up with any legitimate opinions of Allegiant. I wish I could give this book five stars since I liked the other two books so much, but I can't.

Ugh, I was so excited for this book. It was a total let down. I couldn't even finish it. The story was bad, the characters were weak (not like I remembered them at all), and the writing was so cheesy.

What was the point of this ducking ending?
There was none!!!!!! This book sucked ass from the start and destroyed four as a character!!!!! Four became an irrational little shit and him and Tris barely had any time to focus on their relationship because of all the shit being thrown around for no reason. The whole government situation was stupid the way the alliengent and the factionless was resolved was stupid. Tris dying was stupid. Everything was stupid. So much unnecessary problems could have been prevented if these characters would have used their goddamn brain. Tris dying at the end would have been better if four wouldn’t have been such a little bitch. Most importantly I wish this book would have focused on the characters relationships instead of adding unnecessary shit. And I’m still confused about the whole government thing because what about David’s superiors why aren’t they doing anything I’m just confused. And for the life of me I couldn’t remember the ending to this series of after 2 years of watching and now I remember why I forgot because it ducking sucked.

The book seemed messy, and wasn't sure how to move the plot along. But I enjoyed the ending.
adventurous challenging medium-paced

Loveable characters: Complicated
Diverse cast of characters: Complicated
Flaws of characters a main focus: Complicated

Not a great book - it was sitting firmly at one star until the ending impressed me. But it took 500 pages to get interesting/good.

This book switched formats from the last two and was told in alternating POV between Tris and Tobias. Tris's voice was different from the previous two books (I read all three in sequence) and I didn't care for Tobias's. For a 500 page book, not much happened. Several main characters were killed needlessly and a lot was left unsaid.

As a whole, the series isn't worth your time.

It is really impossible to say much without spoilers. I'll also need a few days to really absorb it. But it is different. The Gd / Gp stuff seemed a bit long, not sure all of that was necessary - and the message given at the end just sort of felt like a completely different one than most of the story's focus. Even though I know it's multi layered. I expected more story involving David too.

Many of my friends really didn't like the way this ended and I thought it was a great ending. Definitely liked this volume better than Insurgent.

This was awful, don't waste your time :(

I read the reviews of this book before I read the book so I saw all the negative comment and almost decided not to read it. I also ruined part of the story for myself since I knew Tris was going to get shot and die. I’m glad I did read the book and knowing Tris was going to die probably made that part easier to read.
I liked Allegiant better than the first 2 books in the series. My main complaint about the first book was that we weren’t given enough background and information about the different factions. Instead the book started shortly before all the uprising. I found the concept of factions intriguing (by no means a good way to live or govern) and I found myself figuring out which faction I thought I would fit it. I was disappointed when we weren’t told more about the different factions and how life was like growing up and living in each of them and what the different initiations entailed.
Allegiant satisfied some of my curiosity when Tris and the others learned about the experiment and why the factions had been formed in the first place. I don’t agree with the terms genetically pure and damaged. Altered and unaltered might be more appropriate. The concept of correcting someone’s undesirable traits is scary and of course unethical (I am not referring to gene therapy to correct a specific mutation to save individuals lives). But it makes for a good story.
Tris’ death did not really upset me since I knew it was coming and with all the violence taking place in the book her death makes the story more realistic rather than a completely feel good happy ending.
Overall I liked the concept of the series but I think there is something lacking in the way it was told. There didn’t seem to be any depth instead there was too much emphasis on all the uprising and violence. I found the back and forth narration between Tris and Tobias in Allegiant confusing since the first 2 books in the series were narrated by Tris, although I see where it was necessary since she dies toward the end of the book.
