What a beautiful, moving, heartbreaking, masterful book. This told the story of WW2 through the eyes of the French and was an insightful glimpse into how slowly but insidiously the Holocaust progressed. There were some scenes that were graphic and I cried a lot through the book, but the character and story arcs were immaculate. The pacing was also very smooth, despite covering long periods of time and even jumping into the future for some chapters.

The only pitfalls of this book were that it was hard to get into because it started rather slow, and it got a little preachy in its feminist messaging at times. But I truly loved this story.

The Nightingale is a very heavy, emotional, and heartbreaking read, but also includes strong and inspirational female main characters, who show great character growth throughout the book. Make sure you have tissues nearby

This was very good. I just live this story, but I need some time to process it. Soo good...
Ugh I just love all the characters and it was very hard to watch them go through pain. Isabelle was just so amazing, so brave, it kind of opened my eyes. I love when books teach me something, and this book taught me how hard and ugly war is. How war changes you, how life was and still is so unfair and hard. So emotional and touching, I was on the wdge of my seat. The beginning was a little slow, but I couldn't stop reading it for the majority of time. Last hundred pages were very hard and emotional.

This was an emotional read. Two sisters doing what they think is right to get through the war. One trying to save children and living with the enemy. The other joining the resistance and rescuing pilots.
