so incredibly slow- finally picked up in the last 100 pages. Took forever to read. Actually ended up being quite an interesting read going back and forth between perspectives.

I am not up-to-date on North Korea in any way, but whether you are caught up on that debacle or a newcomer like me, this novel is wonderful. It states the horror in that nation in a matter of fact way, woven into an incredible story frame. Part myth, part fable, and part biography, all couched in a narrative structure that made me giddy.

I finally finished this very long book! I can see why it won the pulitzer, but it wasn't a page turner for me. Hence the 4 stars.

Didn't finish, too depressing

DNF.

This book was slightly confusing and hard to get into but very intriguing.

59% and I just finally gave up. I tried, I really did. I hate leaving books unfinished. Maybe someday I'll come back to it.
For now... I'm not sure how this has gotten such rave reviews because I'm just not finding anything.

Compelling and disturbing, although at times very funny.
