Set in the 1970s, “Mary Jane” is a coming of age story for straight laced Mary Jane when she takes a summer nanny position with a hippie
Psychiatrist and his wife who have taken in a rock star and Hollywood actress couple who are in recovery for addition.

I finished this is one sitting! I loved the characters who were all well developed. The story line was unique and genuinely heartwarming. I loved the flip flopping of roles. Overall a great read and highly recommend.

I thoroughly enjoyed this, and I can see myself reading it again in the future. I thought that all of the characters, while not all likeable, were true to themselves. Izzy was adorable, and I loved seeing her help Mary Jane discover her strengths without even knowing it. 

The Cones, Jimmy, and Sheba, were wonderful and I loved seeing their relationships build-- as well as how Mary Jane made an impact on them. 

This would have been an easy five star read, but the ending felt too rushed-- I didn't believe that Mary Jane's stubborn mother changed her mind after hearing one song.

I WOULD reccomend the audio-- you get to hear the aforementioned song performed!

This was a LOL book in many parts. Mary Jane was a typical sheltered teen during the 1970’s. Nanning for a family that is the complete opposite of how she was raised. This was a humorous story as she learns about herself and the person she wants to become.
