funny inspiring

The book like the movie was full of surprises as well as being funny. Well written. Highly recommended book to movie goers everywhere.

A great oral history of the greatest comedy ever!

I’m a huge fan of Airplane! like everyone else, so getting the inside scoop in the words of the creators themselves, along with interviews from all the great actors and production staff was a real treat. I don’t usually enjoy the “oral history” type of books, but with so many players and moving parts, it was the perfect format for the story.

Tried listening to the audiobook, only got 12% of the way through. It’s like a podcast with 7 hosts
It must be better in book form but I’m not going to bother

I was just looking for what books my library Libby had with Weird Al and this book popped up! What a great insight to one of my favorite movies. I’m going to have to rewatch the movie with this new perspective.

I listened to this audiobook and finished it on Halloween. Maybe not the most terrifying thing, but there you go.
Airplane! is genuinely one of my favorite movies and hearing so many people, including Weird Al, praise the movie was just fantastic.

Maybe 4 stars for content, but 5 for the audio with so many contributors speaking in their own voice. Puts the oral in oral history.

Tons of fun! It's a really funny and interesting look into the making of one of the funniest movies ever made. I loved all of the behind the scenes stories mixed with interviews of filmmakers and comedians who were shaped by this movie. It's a fantastic book and the audio version is well worth the listen.

Undeniably charming and funny - sweet and nostalgic. I especially appreciated the insights from the actors. The “story” jumped all over the place, making the timeline hard to follow in places, but they did a good job grouping big concepts together. I did find it both odd and funny that not a single mention of Monty Python and VERY limited mention of SNL came up in this book, but what would you expect from a nostalgic memoir. Leave the context and big picture for the histories.
