My only comment was that one of the main POV characters grated on me a lot in the beginning. If the whole book had been from her perspective I don't know that I'd have finished reading. But so glad I stuck with it.

"I See You" is a twisty thriller that follows a woman named Zoe Walker. One day, on her way home from work, she sees her picture in a classified article with a website address and a phone number. Zoe has no idea why her picture is there, but she is determined to uncover the truth. Her search becomes all the more paramount when she starts to notice that every other woman who has their picture in the classifieds like hers, ends up dead shortly after.
I was so excited to pick up this book because I thought it sounded like such a unique and interesting plot. Unfortunately, for me, this book felt very mediocre. I quickly lost interest in what was happening, and I was not very invested in uncovering why Zoe was being targeted. I think my lack of interest was brought on in part by the multiple POVs. For me, it would have been more impactful to solely follow Zoe.
Zoe is a difficult character to empathize with. She really paints herself as a victim and does not fight back. She also comes across as very naive and willing to believe whatever anyone tells her. I feel like realistically, if someone felt they were being hunted, they would take far more precautions (ie. not go to work) and they would be very weary to trust anyone in their life. I felt like her criticism of her daughter came across especially condescending because she herself would never follow her own advice.
I was initially shocked by the ending and thought the "big reveal" was executed well, but then there was one more chapter. The true person behind this made me irate. I do not think they had real motive to execute such a heinous crime, particularly against Zoe. It also left the book feeling unresolved, and like there would be a sequel where the killer picks up where they left off. This is definitely not a thriller that needs to be continued, so this really threw me.
This thriller was fine, but I will probably not think much about it in the future, however I would be willing to give Clare Mackintosh another try at some point.

I suspected literally everybody. The characters were so well drawn. The every day nature of the people, the places, the situations, made it so much more tense.
Every book I read by Clare Mackintosh I am left wanting more, and this was no exception.
