Celebrates my favorite day of the year. I just wish there was a bit more substance

Welcome, Yule! The poem in this book was originally written by Susan Cooper in 1977 and is performed each year on stage at The Christmas Revels. The foreboding illustrations perfectly encapsulate what ancient people may have felt as the nights grew longer and they envisioned demons or monsters hiding in the shadows. The text and illustrations hint at traditions that have carried over to modern holiday celebrations such as decorating with evergreens and hanging lights. Although I'm not sure this is the most kid-friendly of presentations for families who are not familiar with Yule, I could see it being a really beloved book for families who do celebrate Yule to incorporate a reading tradition into the celebration.

I picked this up because ACOTAR.
But I have always been a fan of winter solstice even before the ACOTAR craze.
This is a cute read that gives some insight into how old our holiday traditions truly are and how they have carried on from year to year even if the name and idea behind them have changed they are all still the same.
