Another fun romp through the world of literature with literary detective Thursday Next. Things are going horribly wrong in England. There is a Stupidity Surplus, no doubt helped along by the increased popularity of reality shows on television. In fact, there is a move toward turning literary classics like Pride and Prejudice into reality shows in which a character is voted off each week by the viewing public. Time, as we know it, may come to an end if Thursday can't persuade her sixteen year old son, Friday, to join the ChronoGuard and save the world. And what has happened to those hysterical novels by Thomas Hardy? It seems that all of the laughs have disappeared from their pages. And, maybe most importantly, there is a serial killer loose in Bookworld. Thursday Next needs to figure out what is going on and deal with it. This book is outlandish silliness at its best.
