Enjoyed this one much more than something wrote - I would say the main detractor is that there’s almost a little bit toooo much going on? Like it needs to slow down a little - I feel like Thursday gets pulled in 70 different directions.
Good bit of note is when the narrative changes briefly - it’s v subtle and I went back and reread it. V good.

Good book. A little slow at first, but you did have to get caught up on 14 years of stuff. Later though, the same humor came back and I really enjoyed this book in the end. I loved the way the book ended too because if Fforde wants to write another one he left it open enough to do that, but if he doesn't want to, then it left off in a good way.
This was so much fun!
I had read the first quartet a couple of years ago and then gave it a rest. I think I'm ready now to finish the complete series, I really burst out laughing more than a few times. This is also the first among the series that I listened to in audio book and a great praise to narrator Emily Gray, who's just fantastic!

This is set chronologically a number of years after the previous book and it takes about the first half of the book to get back to a decent pace, but the second half of the book is classic Fforde and worth sticking with it
Just as silly as the rest! Thursday is driving me nuts though. She needs to stop monologuing and start shooting to freakin' kill.
I spent the first third of the book wondering what the point of the book is... Plenty of things were going wrong, and then Thursday would go on and spend time on something else, and it felt more like "a day in the life" than a plot-based novel until after chapter 11.
Also, this was my second reading, and I remembered only 2 scenes. Somehow it didn't flow as well as the earlier books, for me.

It's a good way to reboot a series, IMHO, and doesn't deserve some of the crap flung at it from people who stopped reading the book halfway through.
Solid reading by Emily Gray.
