2.5
This was a fun read until about half way through.
No chemistry whatsoever; all cringe; characters do not match with their actions or words.

3.5 ⭐️ - I’m a sucker for academy style RH’s.. add in sports and I’m a fan. However this book reads a bit clunky, lots of time jumps and kinda confusing starts to how she actually comes to like the dudes. Idc enough tho cause I’m definitely gonna read the second one lol. I also love that she’s super sex positive

This is book one in a why choose romance; it ends on a cliffhanger, and I devoured it! Josephine is a new student at Lake Chapel University, looking forward to a fresh start. However, when she witnesses something she shouldn’t, four elite athletes force her from her home and into their care for the rest of the football season. What she didn’t expect was to fall for more than one of her captors.
I approached this book completely blind, but I was hooked from the first page. I had to set aside the initial kidnapping plot, but I truly believe the relationships would have developed regardless. Josephine is a strong character who has endured so much, and I loved watching her stand up for herself and assert herself when necessary. I appreciated that each of the four guys has distinct and unique personalities, and Josephine’s relationships with them are all different.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. It captivated me, and I was eager to find out what would happen next. It ends on a cliffhanger, so I immediately picked up the next book in the series! If you like why choose romances or want to try them out, I think this would be a perfect one for you.

I. AM. OBSESSED!
So, I read the South Chapel series first (out of order) and had to go back to see what all the "Jo" references were about.
First, let me say this. As a person living with auto-immune disease, I feel SEEN! Also love that consent is such a thing in all Abby's books. No. I don't like the guys at the beginning... but they grow on you...
Tropes include:
Miscommunication
Reverse Harem/ Why choose romance
Found family
Sports (football) romance
Second Chance (life, not romance)

This lot are dumb as a box of rocks. Maybe even dumber.
It's the weakest kidnapping ever, like, she could just phone someone and tell them? They don't even threaten her, just tell her she's staying until football season is done, like the information she has couldn't still be used against them then anyway. In addition to which, she didn't know anything anyway, but told one of the guys that he may as well tell her seeing as she was trapped there, so he did?! And that was the 'smart' guy too, I mean... just... wow.
I can't imagine the outcome of the twist/cliffhanger is going to be any less ridiculous in the next book.
