Too Safe

I fell so hard for Joey and these guys! Joey is such a strong FMC here, determined and always dealing with what life hands her… Even when it gives her a private island and the most popular guys on the football team when she’d just rather not. These guys run the gamut from never going to go there to been there done that in the best possible ways. I’m a huge fan of all the neurodivergent/mental health representation in this one as well. I need more ASAP… This was my first read by the author, but it definitely won’t be the last especially after the cliffhanger at the end. I’m a greedy reader, and this was packed with so much that left us wanting more.

"Don't let the fear you carry become so heavy you don't live"

After going through the motions for her life, Josephine makes the decision to start over. She moves to a new state to stay with her uncle and go to college on a scholarship. Things are great till four golden boys think she's up to no good. Decker, the captain. Kendrick, the star running back. Locke, the tatted emo boy. Kylian, the nerd. The ending left my jaw dropped and I need the second book ASAP.

"You're the person I crave when the world feels like too much."

The relationship building in this is rocky at first but starts to build momentum closer to the end. There is acceptance and understanding. Each of the boys a have a moment, some not sexual, of understanding. Each trying t o figure out or fight their feelings.

this had all the drama and lust i hoped it would! absolutely love the dynamics at play and the set up of this little world

can’t wait to see more of the kendrick and josephine relationship play out and really hoping this cliffhanger is resolved soon in the next one lol

I’ve never read anything by Abby Millsaps before…but I read this in a single sitting.

Too Safe has everything I want:

-why choose/reverse harem
-college sports
-neurodivergent characters
-FMC with some trauma she’s running from

I loved Josephine’s interactions with the boys. Each one was different and had a distinct feel. Locke, who has to earn back her affections; Kylian, who becomes her safe space; Decker, the arrogant leader who can’t keep resisting Jo; and Kendrick, the one running from his feelings.

The cliffhanger was a doozy and I am officially sucked in. I am all on board (and hoping for a spin-off; Hunter’s story please!!) and can’t wait for the next in the series.
