I found this book on Libby's "Everyone Reads" program.  It was a beautiful and thoughtful book on trauma and the power to survive and forgive in order to move on with one's life.

Amazing story, great writing. One of a kind, and it shouldn’t be. I think the author did a great job showing the complexity and nuance of humans. How freaking hard and complicated life can be, but beautiful at the same time. I listened to this on Libby as their book club pick and it did not disappoint. I didn’t love the narrator - I think I would have enjoyed this particular book more reading a physical copy. But I loved it overall!

I found this as a "Together We Read" challenge on Libby, and decided to give it a try. It's not a genre I usually like, but I enjoyed the story. I found the ending to be rushed, but otherwise liked the story.

A strong debut and a moving exploration of trauma and forgiveness. The style of writing really resonated with me and I was hooked from the first page. 

Felt like a love letter to poetry too which I enjoyed. What an interesting idea to have a character who only communicates in poems.

What didn't sit well with me was that no one really holds Birdie accountable for her abusive behaviors/actions. I understand why the author wrote it this way but I don't think it should be normalized. But maybe that's a me problem because this is very personal and triggering.
