The relatability of being a teenager trying to meet the expectations of your parents and not knowing how to confront the situation was really special. I did enjoy the conversation about race and stereotyping especially for a young adult book. It made me wish I had these characters as a kid as I tried to understand things like exceptionalism and what it meant to stereotype people of my own race. I also love how some of the anxieties of the main character were summarized in lists. It was really helpful to understand the main characters perspective and just remember that end of the day she's just a girl.
