I absolutely adore this book. It's qn adult fairy tale that spoke about determination and Mara is so relatable and endearing that you just want to see her succeed even if she doesn't believe in herself. I love the dynamics of the characters! Angus and the Dust Wife have such a great dynamic and Fenris and Mara are adorable together and I love how they keep helping people along the way and there was even a message about people not wanting to be helped too! I loved how it came full circle with Bone Dog too! The magic in this story was amazing and even have some explanations and honestly T. Kingfisher is such a great writer!

Sometimes you want an easy book. There wasn’t anything that stood out as too surprising, the topic didn’t revolve around romance, I enjoyed the character and how they grew, it was good. I enjoyed settling into this read (which I listened to). I sort of wish I had read this as a hard copy on a rain day that was made for hot beverages and dog cuddles on the couch. It felt wholesome, in such a comfy way.

This book did such an amazing job of itself that it's hard to put into words (for me, that is). It was a classic fairy tale but every piece was unexpected, and every character so real, and every twist was the way it must have been. I loved it a lot and I hope anyone reading this review believes me when I say if you want a fairy tale that they need to read this!
