Nettle & Bone by T. Kingfisher follows Marra a third-born daughter and princess to a small kingdom. She is relieved not to be married off like her sisters but realizes that her sister’s husband is abusive. Marra wonders how can she help her sister and if she can be the one to do something.

Ah! I really have loved every book I have read by T. Kingfisher so far. I read this with my book club and it was such a good book for a club!

So much to discuss! I really found this so funny but also very gross. They are a merry band of weirdos and I loved it. Marra really finds her people and makes her way to do what needs to be done.

It really had like a dark fairytale retelling vibe but also added a lot of humor to break it up. I enjoyed her loyalty to her sister and her determination to help. I only wish we had more. I wanted more of an ending for Marra. I know we got a little but I’m greedy.

Definitely would recommend if you enjoy short dark fantasy with some humor and found family vibes.

Loved everything. The unfairytale, the found family of absolute perfection… BONE DOG!!!

T. Kingfisher continues to be absolutely brilliant!! Thank you for this story.
