This book is long. Longer than it needs to be. That said, I still enjoyed reading it. The characters were entertaining and felt realistic. The main character is a sarcastic cop who doesn’t play by the rules so kind of cliche but it works.
Minor: Animal cruelty, Animal death, Death, Gun violence, Rape, Violence, Blood, Police brutality, Murder, Alcohol, Injury/Injury detail, and Pandemic/Epidemic

This was a rec from my parents, as someone who generally reads from the perspective of a strong female character- john corey rlly threw me. John is a guys guy. He's a self described arrogant sexist pig, all the women in his life are well aware and tell him that he's arrogant, yet they still sleep with him lol. I liked the mystery and learning about the long island history and geography. TW:SA also rlly sad that my fav character EW was r-worded and then murdered! I can understand the murder but the R*pe was unecessary and then the author spun it that the perp only did it bc of john corey's smart ass.
Graphic: Rape
