Didn't connect
I couldn't connect to Alexis at all. She seemed irrational and unprofessional, and how she managed to be a successful wedding planner is beyond me. I found her too willing to blame herself, repetitively.
Eli I liked more, but I didn't really get what connection they could have had in one dance (maybe the scene is in another book?) and also his repetitive self doubt grated on my nerves.
The suspense was non existent.
And all those names starting with E might be cute, but it makes it hard to keep all the brothers straight. And seriously, having both Eli and Elijah? Don't they have nicknames?
In short, couldn't connect to the characters.
Standalone. 1st person dual pov. Mild violence. Steamy.

Audible listen narrated by Zachary Webber and Emma Wilder.
A tiny bit slow burn.
I like the beginning of their story so much. Just easy. Once they start sleeping together, the second thoughts plague her, the jealousy comes out in him and they both kinda react wrong with guilt or being a victim. There is a solidly written, low angst naughty romance with a twist vibe going on here.
I LOVE Emma Wilder’s male character voice…her own reading voice is just to singsong, I’m trying to deal. Zachary was perfect.

Not recommended. The premise of the book and series sounded good however this was very poorly written and poorly edited. Thoughts were all over the place, missing key pieces of information. Felt like this was written in a few days and then nobody edited it just to get it published. Sadly this was my first book by this author who has a very extensive catalogue and I probably won't be attempting to read any others.
DNF at 49%. I gave two stars because I really wanted to like this book. The plot seemed interesting and I’m a SUCKER for anything romance.
Cons: All their names start with E. Every single brother that is described as the same.. I could not tell them apart. I felt the characters lacked development so while one is a handyman.. sure.. but they all grumble and have no personality that sets them apart enough in my brain. I also didn’t feel connected to the FMC. Everything revolved around work and I felt like I never got to see anyone’s personality. The thing that really made me DNF though was the repetition. Example being the MMC would say “I almost tripped when I seen her” and then it would say she looked at her phone and practically tripped. On the same page. That happened multiple times with thoughts, actions, and conversation.
Pros: like I said the story has a cute premise and if you can look past the cons it’s a very chill, no thought read. I really wished I liked it.

Jacob Morgan and Emma Wilder= top tier narrators
They’re the reason I mostly finished the book. (I skipped some middle chapters. Shockingly, I didn’t miss any plot.)
This sums up the book for me:
The MMC REPEATEDLY says, “What is wrong with me?”
SO I started answering, “You’re not well written and it’s not your fault.”

I am so excited about finally getting the Wilder Brothers books, I have been obsessed with them since Eliza's story. This is Eli and Alexis' story. They have this insta chemistry that they got a little taste of during a dance at a wedding 2 years before. Eli is a swoony hero & Alexis is strong heroine that needs a second chance in life after a horrible marriage. You get so many emotions in this story. I absolutely loved this book and I can't wait for the next Wilder Brother.
It was a quick and sweet listening, narrated by Emma Wilder and Jacob Morgan.
This book is the introduction of the Wilder family’s series.
Eli is the oldest brother, he found the Wilder Retreat and Winery to make a place for all his family after all had retired from the military.
He met Alexis (wedding planner) at a wedding 2 years ago.
The novella is “A night for us” if you want to read it before this book.
Tropes:
- military
- boss / employee
- he falls hard and first
- age gap (she is 30, he is 40)
- crazy ex
- spice 🌶️🌶️/5
- no third act breakup
