The Crying of Lot 49 by Thomas Pynchon

This could easily be the most difficult thing I’ve read. I had a hard time understanding his style and I probably missed a lot of cultural references. This book is interesting however and I was enjoying following Oedipa’s journey at times meeting all these strange people, collecting evidence, searching for the truth, randomly finding things that matter or not really … was she hallucinating or was everything real?

I can’t say if I liked it or not but I won’t forget it.

I was supposed to read this book for a college class years ago, and decided to finally sit down and give it a read years later. And I wish I hadn’t.

A book that is short enough to be read but long enough to never be understood.
