Lovely story about women who teach us about listening, telling our story, and friendship. Can be read as a stand alone, although, I highly recommend the first in the series "The Story of Arthur Trulov".
I love this series. A feel good book with great characters in a small midwestern town.

The dust jacket description had me very excited by this book. I loved the idea of a confession club and thought the poly would be juicier. I never really connected with many of the characters in the book, perhaps because it's a series, maybe you need to read the first 2 to really enjoy.
The idea of this book was really good, but I found myself thinking there were too many characters that I found I lost interest in a lot of the story lines. Ultimately, I still loved Iris and Maddy and that ended up being where I had the most focus.

I really enjoyed the premise of the book. About a group of women gathering and fessing up to things they had done in the past and how friendships. It was an easy read that can be ready over a few a days. It was a cute story.
Read this for book club and I didn’t really care for it. I don’t think I’m the intended demographic, and that I wasn’t quite old enough to enjoy a story about mature women.
I wasn’t invested in any of the characters and this was a character driven book not a plot driven book
I received a reviewer copy of The Confession Club by Elizabeth Berg from the publisher Random House in exchange for an honest review.
What It’s About: Return to the charming town of Mason, Missouri, in the latest of the Mason series, the book tells the story of some of the characters we met earlier in the series and some new ones but with the same charm. BUT please read the first two, they are so delightful (Arthur Truluv and Night of Miracles).
What I Loved: Reading the latest in the Mason series, feels like returning home for the holidays. It is a super comforting book and happy and like watching a happy movie but just because its happy doesn't mean its silly. The story handles tough topics like depression, PTSD, homelessness, but never in an overwhelming way. The book focuses on the inner beauty of people even when they have real issues.
What I didn’t like so much: It was a bit disappointing that some of the characters from the previous books were not really as present in this book and because of the nature of this book, you don't get as much story building as the other ones (the book focuses on people sharing their secrets and fears at a club rather than a clear story).
Who Should Read It: People who love the Mason series. People who love up-lit. People who love cozy reads.
General Summary: A book that feels like coming home for the holidays, comfy and sweet!

This is such a sweet series and I look forward to reading each book. Now we are following Iris, Maddy and Nola who were in the first two books; along with some other supporting characters. Iris and Maddy join "The Confession Club" where a group of older ladies get together to talk about their regrets and confess secrets. I have grown very attached to these characters and I will wait for the next book to come out.
