This is absolutely the best of the first three books in the series. As much as I missed Sam throughout the entire book (Sam's been a fav of mine the first two installments), his absence was made up for by the presence of Nine. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about Nine at first, but I absolutely LOVED the brotherly dynamic he had with Four/John, from fighting to make-ups to talking about girls and even Nine's nickname "Johnny" for Four. I adored this dynamic and hope we get to see more of it in future installments. Six remains the most badass of the Guard, and finally getting to meet Eight was such a joy - he had such positive energy for the entirety of the story and was lovely to get to read about. The character interactions and separate but interwoven plot lines made this the best book in the series so far, and makes me so excited to start book four!
