Very intelligent and fun exploration on what alien life might be like and the consequences of direct interaction. There’s also of course, a lot to say about rising against authoritarianism and how the themes of working together are explored through how the alien biology operates.

I was intrigued about the planet but the narrator is incredibly irritating and I'm not sure he's meant to be. The main idea of collectivism over individualism is rammed down your throat without any nuance or interesting questions being asked. The writer also rambles a lot and repeats everything all the time as though he's worried the reader will get confused. There also some terrible similes like one about an alien's arrival being like an angry local in a gentrified neighborhood.
