I don't know if it is my mood but I have DNFd the last 4 books (I think). This one was just too slow paced. Over a quarter of the way through and hardly anything has happened. 🙄

A hostile planet holds dangerous secrets.
Andrian Tchaikovsky never misses, this might not have been at the standard of my expectations but it was still a solid read. I had issues with the pacing and the second act of the book, it felt dragged a bit. I'm still shocked no studio has offered Tchaikovsky an adaptation deal for one of his because he's a phenomenal writer.
The political philosophy of this book resonates with what is happening in the world currently, leaders who would let people kill each other for one a slice of pizza while their pockets keep on getting fatter, resistant groups are vital to fight such governments. I know he confirmed in an interview that there are no current plans for the send book in this world but I would greatly appreciate it if he entertains the idea. It felt like there's more to this world than what we got in this book and Professor Daghdev and his mates could cause more tteouble for Mandate.
And I want to know more about the Mandate and their plans.
Though I've liked other works by Tchaikovsky, this one was rough. Super slow pace, borderline overwritten, and frankly just boring. An unfortunate miss from a skilled author.

The first part kinda dragged but really enjoyed it once part 3 started.
