I'm NOT LYING WHEN I SAY THIS IS COMPLICATED soalnya buku satu ini macem story telling. I think someone is telling a story they had experienced (atau mungkin lagi mendongeng, tapi uh.. Aslan is real, Narnia is real, so it can't be a fairy tale..) because I see a lot of monologues. Anw I love the Narnia series so much ❤️

Update: 09/07/2015

If you'd like to read this review on my blog.

Rating: 4.5/5 stars.

The Magician's Nephew is the story behind the story, how it all began, the beginning of everything. A kid and his new friend go into different universes, thanks to the evil work of his uncle, and find more than a few things along the way.

I am so happy that I decided to pick this book up and read it. Great decision.

This book tells the story of how it all began, the beginning of all the adventures and characters that we saw in Narnia. This book marks the beginning of something great and fantastic.

I was a little hesitant of reading this one because it wasn't really a part of the series as of what characters matters. They were different and I didn't read Narnia anywhere on the synopsis, so I wasn't sure. But then I did, and it all changed.

I had never read any of the Narnia books, but I was a fan of the movies. Which I'm glad I was, because in this book, a lot of the things that are contained in Narnia are explained. And so I felt so excited every time I understood something, and realized where it all belonged to. I think it improved my reading experience so much more.

As for characters, they were all very cute and unique, and I loved them. Well, at least the ones who were good. The two kids were great characters and they weren't portrayed as the typical lost and stupid kids that authors so like to think are true. They were smart and not lost and real, for which, I am very grateful.

I thought the world building to be exceptional, and on few words. I saw everything happening in my mind (helped with the drawings) and it was so much more enjoyable that way.

I really think you should read this book, and the rest of the Narnia series. They're good, fun, cute and enjoyable. And most important, easy to read!

This was a great story that gave me insight into how the world of Narnia came to be. Excited to continue the series!

It is one of the seven novels in the acclaimed Chronicles of Narnia series, each featuring allegorical characters and stories which are loosely connected by the theme of Christian theology. The books appear according to C. S. Lewis's preferred order, The Magician’s Nephew being the first one.

The book explores the origins of Narnia and the creation of life in the universe. It is a bridge between the myths that preceded Narnia and those that followed it. In The Magician’s Nephew, readers learn about the creation of Charn, and how humans first came to live in Narnia. There are further revelations about Aslan, the Pevensies, and even Digory himself before his life in London as an elderly bachelor.

I have tried to read the Chronicles of Narnia more than once, but was unable to get into them. This time it was different; with my partner’s encouragement I decided to give them another try. I was never a fan of the movies but was hoping that the books would be, as always, much better than the picture show.

I have mixed feelings about this story. I enjoyed The Magician’s Nephew, but not as much as I thought I would. I thought the characters were well-drawn and likable (the opening scenes on Charn were fascinating, I was sorry to leave), and the overall story was thoughtful, if disjointed. This is one of those books I would recommend people read if they’re at all interested in reading literature written by someone with a strong Christian worldview. There are times when you can absolutely tell Lewis was writing from personal experience.

Sometimes, I felt like I was reading a children’s version of the Bible.
I am unsure if my love for this series will grow but I will keep on reading the chronicles since I have been told that this particular novel is very different from the other ones. I will keep you updated with my experience with this series.
