Just as funny and charming everytime I read it. :) Sachar's legendary wit and childlike sense of humor has you rooting for Gary through the whole novel. Charming, truly charming.

One of my faves as a child, and it mostly lives up as an adult. Armchair diagnosis would be ADHD, although nothing is explicitly said as was written in 1991.

Not nearly as good as Someday Angeline. It was cute, but the jokes got old. I don't blame his parents for encouraging him to quit telling them! Cute ending, although I'm not sure why a new girl was introduced at the very end... This one was just okay.

"So'd you hear?" he asked. "They're not making pencils any longer."
"They're long enough already!"

I was on a library scanning on a bookshelf when I was attracted by the title. Picking up this book, I was surprised to find out that it was written by Louis Sachar! I immediately started reading, hoping it will be as awesome as [b:Holes|38709|Holes|Louis Sachar|http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/216QC0CE7PL._SL75_.jpg|1679789] (I know, when it comes to authors, I compare their different genre-d books all the time. Just check out my other reviews!).
It wasn't really as awesome as Holes, but it's still a great read. Incredibly funny (even the bad jokes made me giggle) and the story wasn't too fast-paced, I didn't really love Gary but I still enjoyed reading his thoughts. It's wonderful how the author can create such a character and make such a small but creative plot, and make money out of it.
