Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I adore Cozy Creek so much. It gives great Star Hallow vibes and I am always down for that. Cole checked my single dad firefighter boxes. Top tier tropes for me. I like Madi, but felt frustrated by the whole conflict at the end. While I understand after her last relationship not wanting to wait around, but she definitely didn't give Cole time to fully digest what was happening between them. His ex did such a number on him. The kids were so great, it was nice to see older kids in this one. I think they both asked themselves a time too many if they were falling for each other. After the third time, I was like duh?? Overall it is a great cozy romance with some spice.

For a cozy fall romance, this really dragged along pretty slowly. The plot didn't really come in until way later, and the conflict was messy and unneeded. The entire story felt stilted and forced from the dialogue to the internal monologue on both sides of things. It felt a little too convenient for the FMC to have everything she ever needed in order to want to stay. Her apartment came pre furnished and with cats because her grandma just somehow knew that she wanted a cat? This book just really missed the mark in a lot of ways.
a little bored, suffered in comparison to other books i was reading at the same time
Wanted a cute fall romance but this was not it. While the plot had potential the writing was off, with the dialogues being strange. The conflict comes out of nowhere and is resolved so easily. They never really fix their issues
What I loved...
I love a good romance, especially when you throw in a handsome firefighter as the MMC. Madi and Cole are both loveable characters, and the side characters are a lot of fun. Cozy Creek is a cute small town and a place I would love to spend some time myself!
What Could Have Been Different...
Iâm going to be honest - I made it 70% through this book, and then I had to DNF. I donât typically review books that I stop reading, but I truly feel that other people will enjoy this one a lot more than I did. For me, the interactions between the characters were just awkward and felt unnatural. Our firefighter was supposed to be grumpy... but he wasnât - he was shy. Both characters have some traumatic failed relationships, but their âinsecuritiesâ in moving forward felt forced and fake. A lot of their interactions reminded me of someone reading lines from a script for the first time - no feeling, no authenticity, just words.
It just didnât work for me, but I wouldnât say that this was a bad book for someone else! If youâre in it for the HEA and some spicy scenes, this may be your book!

Genre: Romance - Dual Pov
Tropes: single dad, firefighter romance, small town, slight age gap
Release date: October 28th, 2025
Honestly, this was super cute! Short and easy to read. Had all the cozy small town hallmark feels. The writing was a little awkward at times, as was the dialogue, and it wasn't groundbreaking, but it hit the spot as a nice fluff filled story. It was nice to read a FMC who was 30 instead of the usual early 20's.
Thank you to netgalley and avon and harper voyage for the arc!

âď¸ 5/5
First person POV, dual narrative, linear timeline
FMC: Madi, MMC: Cole
Setting: Cozy Creek, Colorado
MF Romance, open door, đśď¸ 4/5
This is the perfect, cozy Fall romance read! The small-town autumn vibes are described vividly in detail that immerses you into the scene of pumpkin patches, crisp leaves, cozy nights and it is layered with enough humor and heart. What really worked for me was how grounded the story felt. The romance is swoony and fun, but the characters have depth, too. You feel their struggles, their hopes, their little stumbles along the way. That mix of heart, heat, and humor is what makes this such a standout. I especially love Gigi and her meddling and encouragement!
While the spicy scenes are on the page it doesnât take away from the growing romance between Madi and Cole.
Thank you Avon and Harper Voyager for providing a copy of this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions expressed are my own.
