Delightfully likable characters, both younger and older, who are fumbling through life, trying to make good decisions and frequently not succeeding. The story centers around an older widow, her 3 adult children and her precocious granddaughter who is sent to live with her. Poignant and funny, with themes of family, identity and reconciliation looming large throughout.

I enjoyed the story and the writing. BUT! there is too much going on, too many topics covered: transgender, infidelity, artificial insemination, bullying, finding oneself.... it seemed the author wanted to cover everything and make everything great and wonderful.
