It's a good easy read. A book you'd read in one sitting. I love the characters, especially the FMC and her internal monologue as I find it quite relatable.

I am a huge fan of Ali so I just have to read everything written by her, the new and the old. I gotta say I have seen so much growth in her writing from this early publishing vs her books now. It was a cute and fast paced read. It was very one dimensional with Liam and Mara being really the only focus. The subplot wasn’t really fleshed out enough to be enjoyable. The smut at the end was definitely a little cringe and I didn’t love that the first chapter was part of the ending to the book it just made it feel a little choppy timeline wise. Overall it was a cute but predictable read and I enjoyed it just not as much as some of her newer works

This has to be the worst out of the three novellas, maybe of any of her book? There are 3 I haven’t read yet but Jesus Mara was so so so annoying. It also felt like her character was from the early 2010s with the way she thought and spoke about things. Happy it was a short book or else I would have not finished it lol

short n sweet

long distance besties
women in stem
enemies(?) to lovers

yum

Maybe because this is a novella, the story didn't really revolve around a STEM environment like Ali's usual novels. There's only a small mention that Mara (the female lead) is a scientist who just landed her dream job in D.C. Oh! and the male lead isn't a scientist either. This time, he's a lawyer!

As the title suggests, the overall story focuses on what happens between Mara and Liam, her new roommate in their shared house. However, I felt like the way Mara ended up living in that house felt a little forced and unnatural.
This book was published in 2022. I loved The Love Hypothesis, which came out the year before, but this one doesn't quite measure up to her debut. The spicy scenes are... spicy... but l'd say the sex scene was poorly written

I loved it.

I don't really know what to say, I loved the characters, the story with Helena was touching. It was funny and a little frustrating and despite the fact that I'm a fairly slow reader, I finished this book in 5 days! (Don't judge me, I really am a slow reader)

The last chapter was so good !
