Cute cute cute! Short academia + rom-com. Wish it was longer…more about the work futures for both Mara and Liam but it doesn’t take anything away from this 4 1/2 star.
For some reason all the men in the STEMinist-series are icky
I understand this is a novella and it’s meant to be short but this really just felt like a collection of fanfic one-shots. Considering Hazelwood’s roots are in fan fiction I can generally give that a pass, it was still cute and a fun easy read.
And then the last chapter gave me the ick so hard it ruined the entire thing for me what a terrible day to have eyes

i honestly was a bit disappointed by this ! i mean, it was cute, and i loved the two characters, but other than that i found this novella underwhelming.
The Love Hypothesis is one of my favorite contemporary romances, which means i had very high expectations that unfortunately weren’t met. first of all, i was surprised to see that Ali Hazelwood has switched to writing in first person point of view ; she does it fine, i guess, but i did have a preference for third person—i was also sad to see that Love on the Brain will also be in first person.
the downside of this only being a novella is that the pacing felt off. Liam and Mara’s relationship seemed to progress entirely too fast, and he, who acted all shy and awkward throughout the whole story, suddenly became some sort of alpha male as soon as they got intimate together lmaoo… which isn’t very realistic, much like in The Love Hypothesis, in fact. that’s another thing : i didn’t feel like there was a huge difference between the characters in the two books ?? Liam and Adam were basically the same person, so i hope to see different types of personalities in the author’s future works !
