I wasn't as hooked in to this one as I was for the first two books. I just felt like the book dragged quite a few times, and my mind would constantly wander instead of listening to the audio book. I'm hoping it's just me and the next book is better.

The books get better, or at least more comprehensible as one is now comfortably accommodated with the setting of the world. I really like the mix between magic and modern police work, and of course the characters, but I what I like more about this book is that there are fewer side tracks and concentrate more on the main plot. Problem still, of course, is that there is not enough of Nightingale, whom I LOVE :D

It goes a bit weird about three quarters of the way in, and I think the FBI agent was an unnecessary character, but I devoured this in less than a day so I must have enjoyed it!

This series continues to impress. The mystery was intriguing and I found myself laughing out loud on several occasions. The character development continues and I look forward to seeing how Abigail's role grows in the later books. Overall this is an easy, enjoyable fast paced read.

Well that was odd. 5 stars as a volume that builds our character stable (more Lesley = more better! Peter wanted to be an architect, sure, so much of the narration makes more sense if that's what we're going with. Abigail is on the team? Oh yes PLEASE.) But the structure and pacing of these is of a mystery - a murder happens at the beginning of the book and we solve it right before the end - and as a mystery it was odd and unsatisfying. First of all
Spoilerlate in the book, poof, secret underground society
and then on top of that, wow, that's a pretty unpredictable motive you pulled out at the last minute. So, as a mystery more like 3.
