lighthearted relaxing medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: No

Fluffy romance with rugged Northern Alaskan man and city dreams Seattle chef. The audiobook narration accents might have hinted at Indigenous characters represented(??), but it certainly wasn’t explicitly mentioned in the book and that’s a shame. Any book about tiny town/backwoods/extreme north Alaska will have more Indigenous folks than white people. If this town somehow only has transplanted white people and zero Alaska Natives, I’d be very concerned.

Loved it! Short and sweet but not really a Christmas holiday book.

Visit the locations in the novel

A lovely read over the cold winter period with a bit of romance to warm your heart. However this isn't what I would call a Christmas novel. There's the holiday feel and the cold outdoors though so it's very close.

Debbie writes these novels well - the mixed up characters with problems of their own, a romantic issue or two, and the most gorgeous of settings.

Josie is waiting to start a new job and until then, she heads off to Ponder, Alaska to spend time there. But small towns have a habit of growing on you as this one does with Josie. The longer she is there, the more she wants to stay...but wait what about her great job waiting for her? Now to mention the men in her life.

The town in Alaska (fictional) is called Ponder and Josie certainly has a lot of that to do! What about Palmer? He and Josie seem to be getting close. Local man Jack tries to bring them together but in his own way, which is a bit Frank Spencer in some ways and a bit Basil Fawlty in others. Does he have reasons for doing what he does?

Setting is also something Debbie does really well and this remote, cold community in Alaska is no exception. You will feel you are there and will really want to stay there yourself. It's a lovely place to be! Lack of ferries, lack of contact with the outside world gives city girl Josie even more to think about.

A nice cosy read to curl up with!

Cute, fun, quick read....but I wouldn’t qualify this as a “Christmas” read.

When I saw the front cover yeah... and the title with 'holiday' I assumed Christmas (my fault).
There was the tiniest bit of Christmas, but that's what I went into this book for so 3 average stars. Characters were normal, a lot of it was telling the connection they had more than seeing it which I am not a fan of, but overall cute enough read.

Three and a half stars! It's an easy read, but not as emotional engaging as some of her other works. Still a good story!

This book was good, it made me laugh in some parts but some of it was slow.
