My oldest daughter and I listened to the audio book of this and enjoyed it! The narrators were great. Palmer and Josie were perfect together. A beautiful HEA set in a picturesque all town in Alaska.
As always, Macomber gave us another easy holiday read with a happy but realistic enough ending. Perfect leading into Christmas. Characters were well developed and likable. The Alaskan locale was interesting as well. Thanks to Netgalley, Random House and Ballantine Books for the advanced readers copy.
Chef Josie prepares to leave her role at an Alaskan ski lodge and return home to Seattle and the enviable position as chef in a top restaurant. However, as she leaves, swordsmith Palmer declares his feelings for her, leaving her facing some tough decisions.
As any Macomber fan knows, Debbies novels are full of fun, cozy encounters, and this novel doesn’t disappoint! If you are looking for some light relief, than this is the book for you.

I like reading Debbie’s new xmas story each year, and I will continue doing so, but this one was a dud for me.
I just didn’t connect with the story. Maybe it’s because we don’t get to see Palmer and Josie meet and begin their fling. I think the entire story suffered because of that.
Not as important, but it bothered me that the guy’s name was Palmer and they were in a place called Ponder. Those names are too similar

What a terrible experience. I have nothing against chaste romances, but if a lack of sex makes you this dumb.... that actually explains the last twenty years of my life.
(I’ve been waiting to make that joke since forever. Heh.)

This book would make a great Hallmark Christmas movie.
Josie and Palmer meet when she’s working a seasonal restaurant job in Ponder, Alaska. It’s nothing like she’s used to in Seattle but she likes it and she loves Palmer.
The night before Josie is due to return home, Palmer proposes.
But Josie has an exciting job offer at home, she will be working for a famous chef and helping contribute to the menu.
Her mind is set that she must return home.
She wakes up late the next morning and misses her transport to Seattle.
With Palmer’s help, she might be able to make it home in two weeks.
They are both so sure of what they want. Palmer wants Josie to stay and marry him. Josie wants to be with Palmer but wants her dream job. She also can’t imagine living in Alaska forever.
With a bit of Christmas magic and a few romantic gestures, they just might figure out a way to be together.
