This was an emotional rollercoaster of a listen that explores love, loss, grief and rediscovery.

The idea of two loves and the internal struggle that Emma faces due to the complex situation she ends up in was very thought provoking and while I am personally happy with the decision that Emma ultimately made, I did think it was just a bit unrealistic that she was able to make such a life changing decision in only three days.

Wow, what an emotional wringer. Half way through, I thought there was no way this would have a satisfying conclusion, one that wasn't frustrating, but it did. The start felt a little slow and teenager-y, with too many details about the characters lives, and at times the book comes off a little prescriptive, even preachy, about how to live and what makes a good life, those are minor complaints compared with how masterfully the emotions and characters are executed. This could so easily have been maudlin or melodramatic (and maybe to some it is anyway), but instead I found it intense and extremely gripping, the sort of book I get annoyed when I have to put down.

Listen. This book made me feel all the feels. And I loved that. The MFC left a little to be desired when it comes to connecting with her, but I felt every inch of her grief & I appreciate TJR’s writing to make me feel that!

I really enjoyed the exploration of grief and change in the first half, but the second half fell flat for me.

It was a nice read. It gave me a new outlook on True Love. Specially how we can have more than one & that it doesn’t always last a lifetime. And that just because it ends it doesn’t mean it wasn’t meant to be.
