I read this book more on a whim rather than it being in my TBR. My partner had just finished it and he doesn’t read loads but he said it was really good and I should try it.

I kind of liked it but it was pretty average for the most part. Some of the reveals were cool but the writing was average. It was pretty slow for the most part and the plot was littered with cliches. It’s your basic thriller that would be sold at the front of an airport WHSmith’s, which is fine it that appeals to you, but it’s just not my taste.

I enjoyed this book, it has the typical Lucy Foley style, it may start a little bit too similar to her previous book, however it is not a redundancy or a repetition. I like The Guest List better, however, this book is still very enjoyable.

The cast of characters is more diverse than in her previous work, and the setting is realistic, really aids with the feeling of being helpless in a foreign place. The plot was a bit predictable, however the ending was definitely surprising.

It does read a bit slower than one might like, the middle chapters do drag a bit, and Jess goes from being very stupid to very smart too easily to be believable. I wish she had a better memory, but I enjoyed her character nonetheless.

I will most likely read more books from this author.

I really struggled to remain interested in this. The revelations kind of saved it. RTC.
