The Paris Apartment is an interesting thriller. While I quite enjoyed it, there were issues with the pacing - it lagged greatly in the middle - and the overall plot was a little spotty. It's also a thriller that would not necessarily hold up on a reread, as the major plot twist completely changes the entire story. It was a good thriller, if a little confusing. The ending wrapped up almost too quickly, and there were several questions at the end that went unanswered.

I was iffy on this book, I started listening to it and struggled to get into it and it got returned to Libby. I kept wondering where it was going and what happened so I got it again. It is a slow first half or so, and I kept not being sure I cared but also kept listening. The set-up seems to take a long time, and I found Jess not that likable or interesting. The amount of times the smell of someone's sweat was mention was wild and annoying. It wasn't what I predicted so that's a plus, and it kept be guessing even when I thought I had figured it out. I enjoyed the switch in narrators, which helped break out some of the annoying bits of each characters point of view.

I read this at a recommendation from someone who loved it. I did not. It's not bad writing, but it had a lot of triggering content. We need to normalize trigger warnings in books.

Jess is trying to escape her old life in England, so she calls her brother, Ben, to ask to stay with him in Paris. However, he’s not there when she arrives the next day and his apartment isn’t exactly what she expected.

The story is told from the perspective of Jess, as well as others who live in the building (Nick, Sophie, Mimi) and the concierge.

I thought this book was well written, but it was very slow and not very shocking. Everything was laid out so I was able to predict it before we were told.
Except Ben in the maid’s chambers. I didn’t know where he’d be but I wasn’t expecting her to come across him then.

Even though it was slow, the end seemed a bit rushed.

I really liked the author’s other books but this one just was just okay to me.

It took a while for me to get into this book due to the clunky prose and stiff narration, but I did get hooked at the end.

I almost didn't finish this book because it was so slow during the first half. But reviews said there were "great twists" so I kept on reading.  The twists were not great enough to make up for the incredibly slow burn of the book.
