I am becoming a huge Pete the Cat fan. This has been a huge hit, from lap time to story time to class visits and day care out reach. 12/7/12

Just love Pete the Cat! It was a hit in PJ Story Time 12/15/14

Rounded up to 5 stars. It was a huge hit and I was embarrassed by how well loved the copy I got was.
The children were holding up their fingers and doing the subtraction with me. One caregiver said it was their favorite book.

I like how it helps with math. That's a subject that really doesn't get much attention in children's books.

I love Pete the Cat! This is the third Pete the Cat book and it is just as good as the other two. They are boldy and colorfully illustrated, contain great non schmaltzy lessons about loving life, and this one even has a little math lesson mixed in. Be sure to download the free song to this so when you read it aloud you can break into song. Or watch the video of the author's performance of it on You Tube. Pete is one cool cat.

Pleasantly surprising! I'm not too familiar with Pete the Cat; I only know a few titles and how to point the kiddos in his general direction. I think this is the first book I've sat down and read with a purpose, and it was great!
I liked the emphasis on subtraction - it went beyond "take one away and you're left with..." and actually wrote out the equation and put it on a full-page illustration of the new number to reinforce the lesson.
I also liked Pete's optimism. "All my buttons are gone? No big deal." When the kiddos reading this book are likely in the phase where EVERYTHING is the END OF THE WORLD, Pete's groove is a calming influence. (Though of course now I'm distracted wondering whether cats really have belly buttons. They're mammals, so they have to...)
I ALSO liked (sensing a theme?) the rhythmic flow and repetition throughout the book. The kiddos will grasp the song right away and be able to participate in the book and work out the subtraction concepts.

All in all, a great book with lots of valuable assets!

Pete doesn't get upset or cry when one at a time, his buttons pop off.....because he still has his BELLYBUTTON! Yay, Pete! A fun way to teach subtraction and optimism at the same time.

Good for learning numbers in reverse though only 0-5.

What a cute funny book! The kiddos can learn some very basic subtraction, colors, and most importantly to not get upset when they lose stuff. It's all good! Great for storytime.

Pete the cat is one of my favorite books because I got it when I was little.

who doesn't love Pete the Cat and his slow smooth groove!
