I was sceptical about this. Not because of the author or genre or anything like that, but because the main character was an Arum. Lets be honest Jennifer Armentrout is an amazing author and everything she writes is just captivating. But I was still hesitant. From what I learnt about Arum from the Lux series was that they were the bad guys, darkness bred from shadows and evil, and I just couldn't understand why she would make that a male lead.
What I didn't count on was my whole perception of Arum and Luxen being turned upside down. I thought I knew everything about the aliens but then Jennifer had to be like, you don't know the half of it. So this novel had me screaming: "Everything I know is wrong!"
I know she said you don't have to read the Lux series to read Obsession, but honestly I would recomend that everyone whose read all three (and a half) Lux books read this (provided your the right age considering it's an adult themed book) because everything is intertwined. There are some answers you'll never see coming and it'll leave you with a lot of questions (Like who exactly is Luc? Or rather what?).
Hunter was a really good male prontagonist. I actually found myself swooning. I really liked the rotating point-of-views because we got to see what exactly went on in his mind, and we got to see the whole story not just what someone perceived as the truth. I really had no idea what I was going to find in this book, but being drawn to an Arum was not one of them. Now when I hear the word Arum I'm not as adverse as I was before. I was quite suprised by the pairing between Serena and Hunter but I really liked it, they meshed really well and the witty banter was very entertaining. Now when I think of Arum I think, good guys, wrongly judged race and definately the word Bad-ass.
There's no doubt that I enjoyed this book. It was captivating and I couldn't put it down. It was witty and fast paced as are all Miss Armentrout's books. I'm pretty much confused because I have no idea what route Origin will take, because I know the things that were mentioned in this book will definately be repeated in that one. I also understood why the 4th book is called Origin. I had my mind thinking in black and white going into Obsession, but really there are so many grey areas it's insane. Nothing is really as it seems and Jennifer is great at keeping people on their toes.

Holy smokes.

Can I get myself a Hunter?

I am so glad this book was included in this series. We get an inside look on the Arum and why the work for the government, what their powers are, and where they came from. Serena witnesses her best friend Mel be killed by Luxen. And can I say I was surprised? This whole time we operated that Luxen were the good guys, and to find out that might not be 100% the case. Hunter is sent by the DOD to protect Serena and get information from her. But Excuse me while I screamed when hunter feed from her and saying how usually he can turn it off from sex, but with her he can’t. Also, he killed the DOD agents to protect her. Ugh not sure who is more sexier, Daemon or Hunter. If only the Lux series was adult (sigh).

Also Luc owing Hunter a favor? Is this kid in the mafia? Lol. He seems to know everyone and everything

I’m really glad I finally got around to reading this! I’ve had it sitting on my kindle for AGES. I’m glad I finally got to see and understand how Hunter and Serena got together because it definitely made me curious when we dealt with them in the Lux books. So this definitely filled in some gaps for me and gave me more information about things.

*My rating is 5/5 stars.

JLA described Hunter (AN ARUM!!?!?!) as Daemon (cue the pant creaming) and Seth (cue the drooling). There are many things we can count on with that combo.

1. A massive ego.
2. Humor.
3. Danger.
4. Hotness.

And many, many more that I am just too wound up to think about.

Jennifer L. Armentrout is an automatic read for me, I have loved every single thing I have read by her. This book fell a little flat for me and I didn't enjoy it as much as the actual Lux series. The main thing it was lacking in was the plot, the romance was there of course but Ms Armentrout usually does a very good job of balancing the action and romance however, I think she failed to do that in this book.

My favourite thing about this book, apart from Hunter, was being able to see the Arum's point of view. They aren't bad but they are not good either just like the Luxen, I have two more books to read in the Lux series and I think this new perspective will make them even better reads.

JLA writes Young Adult and New Adult amazingly and she knows just when to blur the lines between the two in her other books but I don't think she is great with Adult novels because I found so much lacking in this book especially the chemistry between Hunter and Serena. I just didn't see the connection so it was a bit tedious to read it.

Serena was a bit of a bland character and even though we got her POV I don't feel like we knew anything about her which is ridiculous. I knew nothing about the heroine so of course I couldn't connect, or be bothered to care about what happened to her.

Hunter was a more dimensional character and, again, even though we didn't really know much about him we did get to see this massive internal struggle of who he was. He was an Arum of course and he seemed to think being an Arum goes side by side with being a bad person. It was nice to see him come to the realisation that this wasn't necessarily true.

I cannot believe I'm giving a JLA book 3 stars and I'm gutted I couldn't enjoy this book but I guess I'll just stick to her YA/NA books and stay away from her adult novels!

I thought a lot about if I should be embarrased about being 16 and HIGHLY enjoying this book. I thought and thought and thought about what I had just read, but I couldn't find it in myself to hate the fact that I loved this book, and it is one of my favorites.

This book is an amazing spin-off book to the Lux series and I couldn't (not even for one second!) let go of this book. I read way into the morning, never stopping, not even for the bare necessities.

Why I loved this book: To die for characters, meaning Serena and Hunter. Amazing storyline. Witty dialogue. And those scenes. You know what I'm talking about.

Hunter is one of the sexiest and darkest fictional men I have ever encountered. He's on my top 5 list.to do

My basic reaction to this whole entire book:
