One of my favorite JLA books to reread 😍

This book has such a great story line! I loved how it ties into Jennifer's Lux novels but doesn't.

This is a stand alone novel that is separate from the Lux series but certain characters make appearances. It was interesting to see things from the Arum point of view.

There were some great quotes in this story that just made me laugh out loud. I absolutely would recommend reading this story!

WOW. Need I say more? Well... review to come.

I've been putting off this review for so long. And good memory is not (most DEFINITELY) my strongest suit in case of reading or in life, generally. Although I remember the STRANGE and RANDOM stuffs. :P In any case, enough babbling about things not associated in this book.

Hmmm... When I first picked up Obsidian, Lux Series. I'm really not particularly fond of reading Alien kind of books. Since as I have mentioned in my review of Obsidian back then, when I think of Aliens, I thought of those gruesome movies I've seen. But after reading Obsidian, after falling for Daemon in Onyx, I know... I know that I'm liking the series.

So when I saw that there's a spin-off... And that it's about an Arum, the counterpart of Luxens... I don't know what to think about. My friends said that it is an Adult novel because it was published by Entangled Publishing, which I think we all know they mostly publish Adult/Erotic books. So that being said, it's really not my alley since I mostly read Young Adult or New Adult. Not that I stay away from Adult books, I do read those, it's just I'm a bit picky about it...
Who else are better to protect her against a Luxen than an Arum?

BUT, when I started reading it, I am intrigued by Hunter, the Arum. I know that since this is a book about an Arum (they are well, evil, murderers), I know that Hunter will redeem himself by the end of the book. That's how it was always written. Bad boys turning into one of the good guys because they fall in love.

What I liked about Hunter was that he proved that he'll be worth it. That even if he was bad, there's some goodness in him. I like how he is not really one of the bad guys. He just got his own way of dealing things.

“Hunter's stomach was perfection—each taut muscle tight and totally lickable. Not that I'd ever licked a man's stomach before, but now I got why someone would want to. I was in six-pack heaven.”

Serena, was someone that has... strong personality? Or should I say she's hard-headed. lol. Well, she's a bit annoying, but I guess when did I ever not get annoyed by female characters of Armentrout? *cough* Katy *cough* Well I like how she accepted Hunter for who he really was.

In any case, this book is awesome. The plot is really interesting, gripping and makes you want more. Especially all those HOT make out scenes, love scene and the... foreplay scene? LMAO. Well, I know that you, Lux and Arum fans alike all read it by now, so I'm not really spoiling it, am I? It's BOUND TO HAVE THOSE ANYWAY. It's ENTANGLED PUBLISHING we're talking about! :P

Love the book!! More please! And gosh, I loved that Daemon showed up just a bit! :)

I wanted to read this after reading the Lux series, because I really wanted to know how Hunter and Serena got together.

I loved that the timelines were the same. But I have to say, for someone who just witnessed her best friend being killed, she doesn't seem to be grieving that much.

I probably should have read the synopsis or something, because I totally wasn't expecting it to be so...explicit. That aside, I loved the story.

5 stars, hands down. This book had me at the tips of my toes the entire time. Speaking of toes, Hunter made mine curl. Repeatedly. Never did I see that one coming. I'm so very happy I read it in the privacy of my bedroom...

Being in his head was so freaking hilarious! It made the book just so much better than if it had been from only hers perspective. It was a lot of fun diving into this world again, this time with a little more of everything. The ride was amazing, and I'm left wanting more. Badly.

After reading the Lux series which revolved around an alien race called the Luxen, I was excited to pick up Obsession. I thought Obsession was an interesting concept because it tells a story more from the POV of an Arum, the Luxen's number one enemy.

The story picks up quick. Unfortunately, it slows down in the middle when the romance between Serena and Hunter was explored ad nauseum. I'm all for a good romance, but this one seemed to drag for me. It did pick up towards the end though.

The main characters did bother me a bit. Serena was just powerless to resist Hunter's sexual aura and Hunter was too arrogant for my taste. Hunter did redeem himself to me towards the end, but saying how would be a spoiler; let's just say he definitely kicked ass. ;)

Overall, I thought the story was interesting. The Arums scared me in the Lux series, and it's enlightening to discover that there is more to them than meets the eye. Just as there are good in evil with the Luxens, likewise with the Arums. It would be interesting to see Daemon and Hunter work together for a common good. In Obsession, we were introduced to Project Eagle and hinted at its connection with the Daedalus from the Lux series. I hope everything will come into play with the conclusion of the Lux series and that we get to see Hunter (and maybe Serena) make a guest appearance.

Arum aren't all bad.

I loved getting another glimpse into the Liz world and seeing it from a different perspective. Hunter is your typical bad boy but when he is tasked with keeping Serena safe, he has no idea what he is in store for. Serena should be scared of Hunter, he is an alien after all, but it is clear the connection they have is stronger than their differences. Luc and his snarky self was an added bonus. This was a great spin off.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I love that this book has direct parallels to Jennifer L Armentrout's Obsidian series and it makes me want to reread them just to met Hunter and Serena and all the others again ;)

Totally love aliens, even if it's an Arum!
