I've always heard good things about Agatha Christie's Tommy and Tuppence stories, but that they were "different" from Christie's cozy mysteries. And since I haven't even exhausted all of her more traditional books that I've wanted, I've put off reading the outlier series. When the opportunity came to listen to an audio version for free though, I couldn't put it off.

Judging only by the first book in the series, Tommy and Tuppence are different from what I expect from Christie, but they're so different that they reject any comparison to Christie's other detectives. And while there's certainly a mystery in The Secret Adversary, it's a spy story and not a dead body (though of course dead bodies do turn up).

Tommy and Tuppence are total amateurs who naively insert themselves into a situation that they're not ready for and have to rely on their good sense and intuition to get through it. In the process, they discover that they make a great team and I agree with them.

This was a fun time, but I still prefer her classic murder mysteries to the political thrillers. I do really like Tommy and Tuppence though so I'll probably read their other adventures too. I did totally guess the bad guy in this one too.

Great typical Agatha Christie. I loved the characters and the story line was intriguing. The twist! Did not see that one coming. I liked it and would recommend it.
