"To all those who lead monotonous lives in the hope that they experience at second hand the delights and dangers of adventure"
Agatha Christie seems to have indeed gone for an adventure with a good dose of mystery instead of her usual crime scene. We follow Tommy and Tuppence in their first endeavours, and especially how they end up falling into a complex web of political manipulations and secrets. All the events take place just after the end of WWII in a world of penury, which is where we find our characters, desperate to earn some money to survive, and pooling their efforts together for just that reason.
I enjoyed it, especially Tuppence's spunky outlook. The plot revolves around finding a missing young woman who had some important information, and uncovering the identity of the elusive Mr Brown, said adversary of the title (I did, for once). Action scenes and investigative work abound, all coming together into an entertaining tale. And yet... For some reason I didn't connect as much as I would have liked with our protagonists. Not sure why either. Still, a great read.

An absolute delight. I thoroughly enjoyed every page I read. Tommy and Tuppence were such an adorable pair. I would love to read all the ones in the series.
