I've been enjoying the Discworld books so far. However, Pyramids was just not like the last 6. Sure, it's funny and quirky, and very Pratchett, but it just didn't do it for me.
The story was slow going and the logic was wonkier than usual. It's an enjoyable read, but it ain't something I'll ever reread.

While Pyramids started in a captivating way - showing us the insides of the Guild of Assassins in Ankh-Morpork, I found that it failed to deliver a clear and captivating story.
The themes of religion and belief were interesting, but nowhere near as well-delivered as they were in Small Gods.
My real disappointment however came from the characters; I found them forgettable - except for Dios.
I have to give credit to the audiobook narrator, who did an especially great job voicing Dios. He also made two specific scenes that were extremely long and repetitive (an audience with the king and a discussion between philosophers) feel so tedious that it was both annoying and funny at the same time.
All in all, even a somewhat disappointing Discworld book will always be clever and well-written.

Even favourite authors are sometimes a miss. Ended up dnf'ing this one because I struggled to pick it up for a week now. Somehow the jokes fell flat and the book felt more mocking towards the culture it uses for inspiration than I remember from Pratchett. Curious to see if/how this will change as I continue rereading Discworld novels which I last read as a teenager. I believe I didn't read this one before and I am quite sad to have one of the few remaining (to me) 'new' Discworld books be such a miss.
This was my first ever TP novel.
I have laughed throughout and really enjoy the opening mocking of some serious topics .
Did feel like I had done a fair amount of drugs during parts of the book. The characters are hilarious, the names of people and cities amusing and overall the story was good fun
