I really liked this book in the beginning, a trained assassin sent home to take over ruling the empire after his father dies, an empire built on a loose interpretation of ancient Egypt. By the last third though it had lost me a bit, too many characters, not enough investment into their outcome of their survival and towards the end I was just glad to be finished. Shame.
