Okay, Iron Flame. . . We need to talk.
I get Violet's feelings towards Xaden after how Fourth Wing ended, HOWEVER so much of this book, this fight between the two of them, was completely ridiculous. The way she treated him about sharing more than he can was beyond FRUSTRATING, and HYPOCRITICAL. I felt like I was going crazy!A friend of mine thought about making a drinking game out of every time I text her saying "fucking XX" out of irritation with this book, but axed that after my 10th in a day. π
I had 3 hours left and had to take a break from reading because I was just so tired of Violet, I wanted to skip over her internal monologues regarding her and Xaden's relationship. When she said "how can I love someone I don't trust? I can't." I wanted them to break up and for Xaden to move on. It was exhausting listening to her constantly nagging him and having the same argument. Okay, end Rant about Violet. Onwards to what I DID like.
My love for Xaden's friends just increased, Ridoc is one of my favorite characters, I REALLY hope nothing happens to him because Fourth Wing killed me. (See "It has been my honor" π) The end also socked me, I was devasted again! I'm excited to start Onyx Storm and to never again hear π Violet act like Xaden keeping secrets is the end of the world when they are literally at war. Andarna'sπ is my favorite and she clearly can't die so I'm not worried about her, her adolescence phase is a hoot! π And, Kat (Cat?) was awful but Violet being able to channel her anger after that Throne scene π₯ and THANK HER was amazing! π
Despite all my frustrations with Iron Flame, I made it through and still really enjoyed how the story progressed.

This is huge, it could have been cut to half. I had to read the first two books again to go to the third, because the in truth I couldn't remember many things that happened in this one. I really don't understand the necessity to make this so big. The characters development is not great compared with the first. It has some interesting twists, but the writing is not great and sometimes I have to read things two or three time to make sure I understand what the author really wants. All in all it's a bit exhausting, it two big and doesn't live up to the hype of the first. I still like the main characters, but please, the soft porn element of the story is totally tiresome. We get it, they are obsessed with each other, found each other absolutely sexy and have great sex, move on with it and get on with the story. I never give more than 3 stars to these soft porn romantasy books, because the writing is never great. This was very boring at many times and the author didn't need 600 pages to tell this. Editors where are you!
